Every town has its secrets…

Returning to Cold Creek, Ohio, is an act of courage for Tess Lockwood. Abducted and held captive as a young girl, she is unable to remember anything about the crime that destroyed her childhood and tore her family apart. Now a grown woman with a bright future, she is certain she has put the past behind her. But when she inherits the family home, Tess must confront the demons that still haunt her and the town of Cold Creek.

Gabe McCord has always blamed himself for what happened to Tess. He had been a teenager when she was snatched from the group of children he was responsible for watching. Now Gabe has taken on the role of sheriff and hopes to shed new light on the cold case, especially given his growing feelings for Tess.

Tess isn’t ready to recall what happened to her, and she has no intention of digging up any details that might remind her of the truth. But when another child in the town goes missing, she’s certain it’s related to her return to Cold Creek. Together,Tess and Gabe will have to work to unlock their painful memories in order to save another child and heal their damaged souls, for good….

A fantastic thriller by Karen Harper *An excellent romantic thriller by author Karen Harper in book 1 of her suspenseful “Cold Creek” series. All three books are must reads!……… There were so many things going through Theresa “Tess” Lockwood’s mind as she slowly drove through Cold Creek being her hometown. It was going to take more than courage to get her through this ordeal, she thought to herself. Returning home after so many years wasn’t long enough to escape the horrid memories not mention the…

I did enjoy parts of it although there was little suspense in … This is the first book I have read by this author. I did enjoy parts of it although there was little suspense in it and I guessed the identity of the killer long before the end. I also found it hard to believe that our heroine was allowed to work on a case with no experience, had free access to police files and crime scenes and freely wandered around alone even though she was aware she was a “target”. I will probably try another book by this author but it would not be my first choice.

Sick of the corn already……… Karen Harper loves her tall corn fields. Personally, I live in No Indiana and corn fields bore me to tears. I wish she could stop running her heroines through the corn. Also what happened to Bright Star and his cult? She dropped them like a hot potato and left that end wide open. Also what about Marva , Jonas and Ann?She just tied up the romantic angle, which was rather obvious and dull.karen Harper leaves me disappointed.
